One of the most important new features of the ARRI ALEXA 35 Xtreme is its exceptional high frame rate capability. Thanks to a new processor and increased sensor readout performance, this camera can record up to 660 fps in smaller formats (2K/Super 16) using Sensor Overdrive mode, greatly expanding the motion capture range compared to the original ALEXA 35.
Even without activating Sensor Overdrive, the Xtreme maintains high performance at high speeds: for example, up to 330 fps in 2K 16:9 S16 or HD, and 120 fps in 4.6K Open Gate, allowing for cinematic slow motion with full dynamic range (~17 stops) in many cases. These frame rate options make the ALEXA 35 Xtreme a unique tool for productions that need to integrate action or slow-motion footage while maintaining the same color quality, texture, and latitude as standard recordings.
