ARRI UDM-1

This system consists of an ultrasonic sensor unit that emits pulses and calculates distance based on the time it takes for the sound to bounce back, and a display unit with a transflective LCD screen, which shows distance values clearly—even in bright light—and allows you to set range limits to focus only on the desired subject. The UDM can be integrated with ARRI systems and accessories such as WCU-4 or Hi-5 focus controllers, or with the UMC-4/RIA-1 universal motor controller, making it easy to display the measured distance directly on the control unit or use it for automatic focus tracking when working with compatible motors and cameras. Designed to adapt to different camera configurations—including ALEXA Mini, ALEXA 35, studio cameras, or other systems via appropriate adapters—the UDM provides a measurable data-driven approach that brings confidence and speed to the focus puller in demanding situations.
